Investigations on ββ decay modes in Ce isotope by using CeF3 detectors

1997 - First experimental limits on some 2β decay modes:

  1. limit for the 136Ce 2β+0ν process:
    τ > 1.0 x 1018 y (68% C.L.)
  1. limit for the 142Ce 2β-0ν process:
    τ > 2.2 x 1019 y (68% C.L.)

2003 - Results on 2ν2EC decay mode in 136Ce and in 138Ce and α activity in 142Ce:

  1. 136Ce 2ν2EC process: T1/2 > 2.7 x 1016 years (90% C.L.)
  1. 138Ce 2ν2EC process: T1/2 > 3.7 x 1016 years (90% C.L.)
  1. 142Ce α decay: T1/2 > 2.9 x 1018 years (90% C.L.)

In this last experiment, the α/β light ratio and the possibility of pulse shape discrimination between α particles and γ have also been measured.
